About "Of Mice and Man"
“Of Mice and Men” is a book, which was written by writer John Steinbeck in 1937. It published by the Penguin Group. It considered one of the three powerful novels of the late 1930s focused on the California laboring class.
This is a story about two men. They are an unlikely and funny pair. George is small, careful, and sharp; Lennie is a big man with the mind of a young child. They went to work together at a farm. George always told Lennie not to get into any trouble and Lennie always listen to him. They worked very hard to reach their dream: to own an acre of land and a shack, let Lennie tend pets whatever he wants.
Things are always don’t follow the way you want. Their dream is almost come true, but a tragedy occurred, Lennie killed Curley who is boss’s son’s wife. He really doesn’t want that happen, he just want to feel her hair, but she yelling out. He didn’t want George to know that he did a bad thing. He killed her in accident, then escape. For George didn’t want Lennie killed by Curley, he killed Lennie.
I think this is really a sad story. I wonder how is the government running that time. It’s really unfair, they even don’t want to know how it happened, and just want to kill Lennie. George taught and takes care of Lennie all the time, but finally he had to kill Lennie by himself. I could feel how deep sad on George. And I feel sorry to poor Lennie.
As you can see, the title of the book is “Of Mice and Man”. It tells the difference between Lennie and George. Author use mice to indicate Lennie, as he is really like a little pet, needs a man who like George to take care of.
